Egypt is situated at the crossroads between Africa and the Middle East, with the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the east. Egypt has many influences from Pharaohs, Roman, Christian, Islamic and Greek and is famous for its many tombs where numerous mummies have been found over the years.
Egypt holidays are popular all year round due to its wonderful climate, summer temperatures quite often clear 40c whilst warm winters ensure temperatures rarely drop below 20c in the winter months on the Red Sea coast. The northern part of Egypt can be a little cooler in the likes of Alexandria and Cairo. Egypt boasts at least 340 days of sunshine a year and rarely gets rain!
Whilst on your holiday in Egypt you will meet the friendly local people. They are very hospitable and will over a warm welcome to their country. Many locals are descended from the ancient Egyptians although there is a cultural diversity that includes people descended from Greeks, Turks and Arabs.Egypt holidays offer a chance to try the local food and drink, as with most Arabic countries the food and mealtimes are part of the culture. Influences in Egyptian food include Lebanese, Greek, Turkish and even French. Local dishes include Kofta (a spicy meat patty), and Schawarma (sliced meat in a pitta bread) and they can be picked up on local stalls or in restaurants. As with many Muslim countries alcohol tends to be higher prices due to the majority being imported.
