May marks the traditional start of the package holiday summer season and see's a whole host of exciting holiday destinations available from regional airports. May is the best time for a cheap holiday in Greece, quite often you can pick up a last minute holiday in a studio for a week from £109 - £199 depending on where you fly from. The further south you go in Greece the warmer the daytime temperatures will be. Crete, Kos and Rhodes enjoy the best start to the month, however by mid to late May all the islands enjoy temperatures in the mid twenties. Corfu is the most popular Greek island but is also the most northerly of the main islands, we recommend a pullover or cardigan for a night time.
Turkey holidays on the south coast (Antalya region) have become popular year round thanks to mild winters, however further up the coast in the Bodrum and Dalaman region, the weather tends to have warmed up quite nicely by the begining of May. The large resorts such as Bodrum, Kusadasi and Marmaris tend to be quieter and more relaxed than the peak summer holiday dates so offer a good choice for those who wish to avoid the summer rush.
The summer season in Bulgaria is a short one, usually running from mid May through to late September. The beaches are some of the best in Europe and the popular resort of Sunny Beach has lots of family friendly activities. Holidays in Bulgaria offer great value for money as wll as being in the E.U., it is also outside the Eurozone and so still offers an excellent exchange rate for the pound.
Visit the beautiful lakes and mountains of Europe and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Lakes and Mountains holiday are popular between May and September and offer some great destinations such as Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. Enjoy stunning views and wonderful days out in popular resorts such as Mayrhofen and ST. Johann in Austria or Lake Garda and Lake Como in Italy. A great alternative to beach holidays.
