

Cancun is a holiday resort in Mexico. Over the past few years holidays here have become much more popular with many regional airports now offering direct flight links. A new flight from Gatwick to Cancun is offered by British Airways and this runs three times weekly. As the resort has developed, so have the hotels in Cancun. After the 2005 Hurricane Wilma, many of the old hotels were replaced by fantastic new luxury options all offering the highest possible service.
The famous white sand beaches were decimated by Hurricane Wilma, however there was a big project to replenish the beaches and although not quite as bright as they once were, Cancun still has some of the best beaches in all of Mexico, the northern part of the beach offers the most calm area for bathing too.
Holidays in Cancun have always been a lively affair, the main entertainment area has lots of bright lights to enjoy on a night out. If you fancy a change from your all inclusive Cancun holiday why not try some of the local restauraunts, eating out offers a huge choice of different cuisines. Whilst you are in Cancun it is worth getting out and about to discover the local area. The best mode of transport is the public buses that run around all the main tourist spots and hotel area. The traffic tends to be very busy in Cancun and so taxis can be very expensive and car hire is available but be prepared to sit in a lot of jams! Getting out of Cancun on excursions or day trips can be a great way of exploring the Riviera Maya and the ancient monuments in the area.
Shopping in Cancun is varied with traditional stores and stalls selling arts and crafts to the multiplex shopping centre such as Kukulcan Plaza, which has over 250 stores and offers everything from fine jewellery to electronics. Cancun is a shoppers dream!
