The Turkish resort of Marmaris has undergone a major transformation during the past few months. Many of the lively bars on the seafront have been demolished as many were unlicensed. Popular lively night time hotspots such as Bar X and Seaside and restaurants such as Natalie's have disappeared from the promenade. However new bars are quickly taking their place. Capitan's Bar the popular karaoke bar has quickly reopened set back from the beach in a smaller building. Many new bars have also been built back from the beach and offer areas outside to sit and air conditioned dance floors inside.
During the winter of 2009/10 the resort has had a lot of building work and most of the major structual work is now complete. The odd new building is having finishing touches such as plaster and painting or electrical work finished off. Whilst many people will not like the thought of losing the popular bars, the seafront looks great now and still has a good range of places to go on a night time. The VIP bar has recently opened and offers a lovely terrace that looks out over Marmaris bay. In the past many of the previous bars played music load until the early hours and attracted many complaints, but now the doors are closed by 12am and all music is confined to indoors. For Bar X fans, you will be pleased to learn that it has moved to Bar Street in Marmaris!
